Blown and sculpted hot glass
I set a challenge for myself to create something new. I sculptured the glass like thick oil paint strokes using colour with a variation that reacts to different temperatures – so that it strikes differently when I expose it to hot or cold.
I treat blown glass forms as a canvas to embellish.

About the artist
Bethany Wood
Bethany Wood, founder and director of Blowfish Glass, a leading, artist-led, hybrid gallery and hotshop.
A design graduate from De Montfort University, Leicester, specialising in glass making.
Bethany has focussed the previous 6 years developing skills working for renowned glass makers across the country. Bethany launched her own collection of work 2 years ago and exhibits with high end galleries and interior designers internationally as well being an artist representative for many other prominent artists.
“If I was not an artist, I would have been a performer. I chose glass, which I do believe is a performance of art; both disciplines create the same energy. There is rhythm and adrenaline in glass making, within a routine that is planned very carefully.”
