Plume II - Laura Quinn

by Laura Quinn

£1,750.00

A master at creating tactile blown glass artworks, Laura Quinn explores a new challenge with this new work – combining lamp-worked glass elements with her blown glass forms.

A keen researcher, Quinn is fascinated with how audiences interact with craft and glass and how this can be re-addressed through the blending of alternative materials and processes and through communication.

Laura Quinn is an Irish glass artist based in the UK. In 2015 she graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, with a joint BA (Hons) in Glass and Art & Design History. After graduating, she worked in the world-renowned Corning Museum of Glass New York, Olustvere Glass Blowing Studio in Estonia, and LoCo Glass in Cirencester, UK. She received her MA in 3D Design Crafts from Arts University Plymouth in 2019, where she specialised in Glass combined with 3D digital craft.

Quinn regularly exhibits internationally. In 2022 she was selected to exhibit a new ambitious series of work at Collect Open 2022 in London. Quinn is passionate about using research to underpin her Glass making practice. She has twice published a research paper in the Making Futures Research Journal and a chapter in the Artisan Brand book. Her research explores how audiences interact with craft and Glass and how this can be redesigned by blending alternative materials and processes and through communication.

Alongside her creative practice, she works as the Glass Technical Tutor at the University for the Creative Arts, UK, where she continues to hone her skills and teach the next generation of makers.
