Tacit Flow- Laura Quinn
Tacit Flow- Laura Quinn
by Laura Quinn£2,400.00
Tacit Flow I is a stand-alone sculpture, or can be adapted as a light piece upon request.
This artwork is part of ‘Tacit Bodies’, a series of sculptural glass pieces created by Laura Quinn. The work is experimental and ambitious, combining glass blowing, lampworking and cold working techniques with unusual combinations of materials to create highly tactile sculptural forms and light pieces.
Inspired by Michael Polanyi’s writings on tacit knowledge, this work explores what knowledge of the material and process the audience can gain through interacting with the piece. This interaction connects the Tacit Bodies: the work, the audience and the maker together.

Quinn is passionate about using research to underpin her glass making practice. She is twice published
with a research paper in the Making Futures Research Journal, and a chapter in the Artisan Brand book.
Her research explores how audiences interact with craft and glass, and how this can be redesigned
through use of blending alternative materials and processes, and through use of communication.
Alongside her creative practice, she works as the Glass Technical Tutor at the University for the Creative
Arts, UK, where she continues to hone her skills and teach the next generation of makers.
