Resting reflects the burden of labour women carry throughout their lives even while relaxing. The depression formed by the needle signals the weight of emotional and physical stress women endure.
Áine Ryan is an emerging visual artist based in Co. Waterford, Ireland. Her art practice encompasses the cast glass process, mixed media, textiles, and photography. In her current work she is using her farming upbringing to question the value of women within this typically patriarchal space. In 2017 she returned to full time education as a mature student. She received a B.A. (Hons) in Contemporary Applied Art from M.T.U Crawford College of Art and Design, Ireland in 2021.
