Infinite Movement

Metamorphosis‘ is a testament to Cathryn Shilling’s exceptional craftsmanship and ability to breathe life into Glass. This sculpture channels the materiality of fabric whilst also exploring ‘human interaction, interplay and movement, derived from reality, performance and the infinite nuisances between those two states. The piece is composed of intricate glass components delicately fused, creating a mesmerizing composition that invites viewers to embark on a journey of metamorphosis alongside the artwork itself. The gleaming surface of the work is emboldened with 24-carat gold, applied in a way…which shall remain as mysterious as the infinite movement of the work

Naturally, the show features Vivian Westwood designs, who made Tartan infamous as a radical and boundary-destroying emblem of her design practice. Elliot Walker, Hotshop Manager at Blowfish Glass UK, fondly remembers catching a glimpse of the fashion Icon walking past London Glassblowing, as it is fortuitously on the same street as the Fashion and Textiles Museum. Cathryn was the Gallery Curator of London Glassblowing for 9 years.
