Throughout history, the skull has been a symbol that has captured artists and thinkers alike. The skull is a teacher that has kept generations of students enthralled by its mysteries and symbolism of life and death. Now we present a new manifestation of these captivations, in Elliot’s groundbreaking series of works, Elliot Walker is a visionary glass artist renowned for his innovative approach to glass sculpting. Elliot has graduated from vanitas depictions of skulls to a contemporary twist on historical glass cutting patterns, in which these artworks are afforded a new and exciting a visual language.

Each Cut-Crystal Glass Skull is meticulously crafted. Elliot has collaborated with Master-Glass Cutter Nick Gritton to adorn these skulls in a new dialect of patterned design. One of the first test pieces, ‘Topography of the mind’, explores how the forms of skulls were at points analysed, and maps of supposed understanding were plotted across their surfaces. These stunning crystal skulls are just the first tests of an exciting new collection. By participating in the silent auction, you not only secure a unique test piece for yourself (which Elliot rarely auctions), but also contribute to the progression of this remarkable collection. The funds raised from the auction will directly support Elliot to further master the form of the skull, and to experiment with the array and intensity of colours used.
