Floating Gold
Floating Gold
by Elliot Walker£470.00
This stunning perfume bottle was made for a challenge on the Blown Away Netflix series – ‘Scents and Sensibility’ episode 6.
A succesful perfume is more than just the scent. The bottle has to draw people in, spark interest and tell a story. Elliot Walker’s piece did just that and won best in glass for the challenge, the challenge was judged with the evaluation criteria of design, technical skill and over all presentation.
The story behind the perfume bottle comments on the historical use of ambergris, a whale waste product used in the perfume industry. Its connections to the whaling industry and its continued presence within illigal grey areas.
Elliot mentions in the show that if he were a perfume he’s smell of ‘burning paper and bee’s wax’ – a common scent in the glass hotshop
The ‘dipper’ replicating a harpoon telling a strong story and a clear staement.
Due to their being no seal- it’s possible for the perfume to evaporate over a very long period of time.

I am a sculptor working with molten glass as my primary medium. I studied glass making in the Historic Glass Quarter, Stourbridge, where I developed my basic skills that are the essential foundation for creating works in this challenging medium.
I established as a maker and an artist with the pleasure of working for glass legend Peter Layton for 8 years as part of the London glassblowing studio team. This was alongside some of the UKs most skilled glass artists.
I have been creating my sculpture for a close to a decade and now currently working from my studio with my sidekick Bethany, (The founder of Blowfish Glass) situated in Stourbridge, West Midlands. At the studio I facilitate the creation of works for a number of noted designers and artists.
I am a dedicated experimenter with my chosen material and am constantly trying to challenge myself and the audiences of my work to abandon many preconceptions of the material.’
Please note once stock has run out, there will be 21 back orders available, these will be made and with you by mid March!
