Hot Air Balloons

by Sacha Delabre

£2,000.00

Glass and metal; traditional glassblowing techniques and cube metal frame.

Sacha’s work is a cocktail of comedy, poetry, street, and pop art. He’s on a mission to mix up traditional glassblowing with a splash of contemporary flair, aiming to make us rethink glass with a blend of fascination and humour.

Sacha Delabre’s story starts on an apple farm in the French Alps, where he grew up.

After diving into cabinet making at age 18, he went over to England’s northeast to work for the renowned British artist Antony Gormley and signed up for an Art Foundation course at Newcastle College. It was here that Sacha stumbled into the world of ceramics, which eventually nudged him towards studying Glass and Ceramics at Sunderland University.

After graduating, Sacha spread his wings at The Glass Hub, teaching glass beginners for a year before moving on to work with international glass artists Philip Baldwin and Monica Guggisberg. Here, he has been immersed in hot and cold glass, soaking up skills such as Swedish overlay and incalmo techniques in the hot shop along with a vast pallet of Italian cutting techniques.
