Rainbow

by Layne Rowe

£6,000.00

A seductive and vulnerable material, glass translates a potentially harmful object into a beautifully fragile art form. This piece advocates an alternative to the anger and conflict that fills our world.

The stylised weapon has been hand-sculpted with precision to acknowledge the craft of weaponry. The piece’s accuracy has been achieved by creating hot-formed elements blown and sculpted as close to the required shape and size as possible, then cold worked with stone wheels and diamond tools to achieve accuracy.

The piece contains canework to create a myriad of colours within. This represents the rainbow as a symbol of peace.

A “Solid Gold” daisy has been strategically placed, representing the “pot of gold at the end of the rainbow”. It is there to offer an alternative.

Would you swap gold for peace?

Hybrid Solid and Hot Sculpted Glass, Cold Cut and polished piece with Decorative Sandblasting

The piece is in three parts: the top of the grenade can be removed to use the piece as a vessel, and the daisy can be removed.

Product dimensions: 150 x 100 x 150 mm | Product weight: 3 kg
