Acorn Within an Acorn is about regrowth, about bringing back to life unwanted and discarded items, creating art that can be admired from the rejected.
My journey with glass began in 2003 when I owned a bead shop – I started to investigate how glass beads were made, bought a beginner’s kit and taught myself to lampwork
The love of all things glassy had been ignited and I delved into Fused and Stained Glass as a hobby which continued for many years.
In 2020, I found myself free from self-employment limitations so enrolled to the University of Sunderland to do a Glass & Ceramics BA Degree. Once that was over I felt I needed to continue my learning so stayed to do a Masters in glass-art, for this I am specialising in glass that’s already in the world, scouring Charity Shops and Antique Shops to find pieces from which I can create new works.
