Drawn to the Light - Georgia Redpath

Although reminiscent of moths, these pieces developed from a geometric pattern which mathematicians call a pursuit curve. Colour and texture help make the bridge from geometry to the natural world. These sculptures come as a pair

Georgia Redpath is a glass artist whose work is rooted in a modular approach to mould making and kiln casting. She takes her inspiration from the underlying pattern and structure of the natural world – where small repeating parts build up to create enormous variety and complexity. Her modular building blocks often start with the most basic geometric shapes, but through repetition and simple mathematical transformations these develop into something more complex and reminiscent of the natural systems which inspired them.

In a career spanning more than 15 years, Georgia’s work has been exhibited across Europe, with several pieces purchased or commissioned for public collections in the UK. Her Colony of Colonies series won the international Warm Glass Prize in 2019. Between 2019 and 2024 she completed a PhD at the University of Wolverhampton, extending her modular relief casting approach to create sculpture in the round.

Since 2017, Georgia has taught different aspects of her casting approach in studios in the UK, Europe and America.
