The stunning, dense, and transparent cobalt blue figure is directly inspired by Henri Matisse’s Blue Nude. Elliot chose this reference for its evocative, melancholic emotion. The form, excluding the arms, is influenced by the aesthetic of broken or unfinished classical Greek and Roman sculptures. During this period, Elliot extensively practised life drawing, which significantly shaped his approach to sculpting with the macello technique. Unlike traditional sculpting methods that involve adding or removing material, maccello allows you to work with the exact amount of glass from the outset, gently guiding the body into its desired shape.
Glass Sculptor
Elliot Walker is a glass sculptor who discovered his passion for glass after graduating from Bangor University with a degree in psychology. The vast spectrum of colours, textures, and the material’s ability to mimic other substances provide Walker with the perfect material for creating his three-dimensional compositions and sculptures.
Walker’s work demands extreme dexterity, speed, and precise temperature control to sculpt and master the molten glass. He finds the medium both captivating and challenging, relishing the immediacy and the intense relationship involved in working with it while it is still fluid.
With his background in psychology, Walker approaches his creations from unconventional perspectives. This ability to defy convention and intentionally alter the viewer’s perception has made his works truly unique, instantly recognisable, and highly sought after. His studies in psychology continue to inform his artistry, resulting in pieces that are aesthetically sensitive, crafted with exceptional skill, and brought to life through a storyteller’s narrative ability.

Elliot Walker
I am a sculptor working with molten glass as my primary medium. I studied glass making in the Historic Glass Quarter, Stourbridge, where I developed my basic skills that are the essential foundation for creating works in this challenging medium.
