Imagine VI - Laura McKinley

£6,500.00

These works are inspired by the imagination of children, a small object held in a child’s hand can become a car, skyscraper, or even a planet. My interest in play and the inviting qualities of glass are strong motifs throughout my work. Using hot glass I am directly contradicting the fragile material in which the objects are created by inviting engagement and interaction, at the same time, exploring form, texture and the illusion of space, evoking a childlike intrigue.

Laura McKinley’s compositional sculpture can be sold as a whole or seperated in to 3 groups and sold singularly. If you are interested in a smaller composition, (portrayed in product photographs) please contact me via bethany@blowfishglassart.com

These minimal objects come together in various ways to create narratives imagined by the viewer.

‘My decision making in how to place these objects is not only for aesthetics reasons. Physically balancing pieces together gives the appearance of a game in play. My large-scale objects often have an ambiguous and curious nature’.

I have been working with glass for thirteen years, and completed my MA in Glass at the
Royal College of Art in 2018. This experience has enabled me to challenge my previous
artistic practice, as well as broaden my skills and understanding of the medium.
Relationships play a huge part in the development of my work, from the relationships I have
with the team of people I work with, to the relationship between the viewer and my glass.
These important interactions with people are some of the key aspects I love about the craft
of glassmaking.
