Elliot Walker —Sushi Series
This unique piece has been generously put forward by Elliot Walker for the Fifteen x Fifteen auction. Elliot is also exhibiting as part of Fifteen x Fifteen and was one of the artists involved in the live demonstration programme at the exhibition opening.
Elliot is a sculptor working primarily with molten glass, and his work is known for its playful approach to familiar subjects, meticulous detail and ambitious use of colour. His Sushi series is a wonderful example of this, transforming an instantly recognisable subject into an intricate miniature glass sculpture.
Working on such a small scale while combining multiple colours, forms and layers requires exceptional control of the hot glass. The result is a charming and surprisingly detailed piece that demonstrates Elliot’s ability to push the material into unexpected territory.
Elliot trained in the Historic Glass Quarter, Stourbridge, and spent eight years working at London Glassblowing alongside some of the UK’s most skilled glass artists. He is now based at Blowfish Glass in Stourbridge, where he works as a sculptor and facilitates collaborations with artists and designers through the hotshop.
Elliot will receive 50% of the final sale price, with the remaining 50% going towards the Blowfish Glass Bursary Fund.
