Stacked and fused glass powder and sheet glass

Inspired by the textures and striations of rock formations Alison stacks and fuses multiple fine layers of glass powder to explore themes of family bonds.

Alison Jardine is a kiln-formed glass artist who works from her studio in Edinburgh making decorative vessels and sculptural pieces. She began her glass journey in 2013, eventually undertaking a full-time course in Glass Art Production and graduating with distinction in 2018. With a passion for exploring innovative techniques and continuously expanding her technical expertise, the versatility of glass as a medium allows her to experiment with various forms and textures.

Alison finds inspiration in the natural world, with a particular love for translating the Scottish coastline’s colours, light and shapes into glass. Her work is characterised by luminous colour and pattern and pieces range from small delicate sculptures to larger vessels and wall hangings.

She is inspired by the colours and textures of the natural landscape and her work features intricate lines and patterns which are reminiscent of the striations found in natural rock formations.
