“We Three” reflects on familial connections and the different bonds that link us – bonds that are innate through shared DNA and those that are emotional, created over time and shared history. The figures stand on a kiln-formed base and are formed by creating multiple powder wafers in the kiln, then stacking and fusing them into shape. The “heads” are lampworked, blown glass.
Alison is a Scottish kiln-formed glass artist working from her studio in Edinburgh. She has been working with glass as a medium since 2014 and graduated with distinction from the Art Glass Design and Production course at City of Glasgow College in 2016. She is inspired by the versatility of the glass itself as a medium and uses a variety of techniques including kiln forming, casting and lampworking, to produce her work using sheet glass and powders. Much of her work concerns themes of family, identity and connection inspired by the patterns and colours that occur in the landscape.
