Lemon Tea - Elliot Walker

My still life series has been an exploration of glass, interpreting the inside of fruits whilst using the profiles of other objects to create a familiar context and format.
This series utilises both blown and hot sculpted glass, as well and cold processing of dissected elements to create a narrative scene full of contrast and intrigue.

Elliots Still Life series has been described as “visually Breath-taking” – “Surprising and unique among glass artists”
Walker is one of a handful of glassblowers in the world whose focus is solely on figurative sculpture. His work develops the relatively young history of studio glass in this country and steps boldly into forms of great originality and thought.
Taking inspiration from the great masters of the still life genre, particularly Van Beijeren and Steenwyck, Walkers subject matter is conjured from molten glass and preserved not for consumption but display; fruit mineralised like crystallised geodes, the beauty of which can be viewed in the dazzling intricacies of his technique.

I am a sculptor working with molten glass as my primary medium. I studied glass making in the Historic Glass Quarter, Stourbridge, where I developed my basic skills that are the essential foundation for creating works in this challenging medium.
