What excites me most about this collection is the material knowledge embedded within each work. Introducing a piece from the Archive. “Spillage” 2020 was created using time-honoured techniques that Walker has passionately embraced throughout his career in glassmaking.
Each piece showcases a unique blend of the sommerso and in-calmo methods. The somerso technique involves delicately dipping one glass piece into another colour, resulting in a beautiful, layered coating that enhances depth and visual interest. In contrast, the in-calmo technique features the seamless attachment of two contrasting colored elements, creating a harmonious dialogue between them.

Elliot Walker
I am a sculptor working with molten glass as my primary medium. I studied glass making in the Historic Glass Quarter, Stourbridge, where I developed my basic skills that are the essential foundation for creating works in this challenging medium.
